On Monday, October 15th 2007, more than 300 police carried out dawn raids on dozens of houses all over Aotearoa / New Zealand. Police claim the raids were in response to 'concrete terrorist threats' from activists. Initially 20 people, now 18, are facing charges under the Arms Act with 5 people also facing charges for being members of an 'organised criminal gang', in a trial that could take several years. |

On 30th April 2008, three peace activists who are part of the ploughshares movement - Adrian Leason, Peter Murnane and Sam Land - entered the Waihopai spy base near Blenheim and used sickles to cut one of two 30-metre white domes that normally shroud a massive satellite each. |
