Letters to prisoners:Friday November 6th

Anarchist Black Cross Wellington is holding a letter writing evening to prisoners at 128 Radical Social Centre, 128 Abel Smith St, Te Aro, Wellington*, on Friday November 6th, 2009, from 7pm

As usual, it's a pot luck so bring something tasty to share to keep up energy levels. The venue has an open fireplace to keep everyone toasty.

We have information about political prisoners should you wish to write to one of them. Paper and envelopes provided. We also encourage making colourful cards etc. Everyone welcome!

*128 Radical Social Centre is located beside the motorway by-pass on Abel Smith St and Willis St intersection near the central city.

Help free Lex Wotton!

Lex wotton was recently incarcerated for a 7 year sentence for roiting in Palm Island. The riots were part of the uproar over the death of an aboriginal man who died violently whilst in police costody. A respected figure in his community, Lex was targeted for removal by the state, and although he was charged with offences that took place when he was no longer present at the riots, his argument fell on the deaf ears of the corrupt judicial system.

Lex wotton is in need of funds, please send money orders extra to: P.O. Box 300, East Brunswick,  Victoria,  Australia

About the Wellington Anarchist Black Cross

The Wellington Anarchist Black Cross is a revolutionary prisoner support group, and fights for the abolition of prisons.

As anarchists, we fight against all forms of oppression: the patriarchy, capitalism, colonisation, racism, homophobia and others. We oppose the state and all its institutions.

Our Principles:

  • Anti state, anti prison. Pro prison abolition.
  • Unconditional support for those people who we are supporting.
  • Against all hierarchy/forms of domination.
  • Against capitalism and exploitation.
Who is a political Prisoner?
We define all prisoners as political prisoners.

Our priority is to support migrants facing deportation and prisoners who are detained for resisting oppression.
